A B-17 Navigator's story of the September 11, 1944
mission to destroy the Ruhland, Germany oil refinery.

our dear friend Don was navigator of B-17G 42-97806 XR-D and was shot down on the mission to Ruhland 11th September 1944, parachuted in area where his B-17 crashed,  only a few kilometers from  place where now the Museum stands.

The book is an amazing story about the Baker crew and their fateful mission of which the Museum is dedicated, (the shooting down, surviving three of nine, capturing and Don Lienemann's POW time...) So this book has more than relation to the Museum od Air battle over the Ore Mountains on 11th September 1944...
